Bio
Julian worked as a Medical Laboratory Scientist for Birmingham Public Health Laboratory and holds a BSC in Medical Sciences. He has a keen interest in healthcare technology and has been involved with a number of projects with various academic institutions and research bodies. Notable projects include the “Enhanced Emergency Stretcher” project for critical care patients which is designed to improve the patient experience of being transported from the place of injury to hospital. The new stretcher, which has now been patented, will provide a more comfortable experience as it is padded and can be heated, reducing the risk of pressure sores and hypothermia for patients.
Julian is currently a co-author on the OPAL project, led by University of Birmingham, which is researching why patients are erroneously being identified as being penicillin resistant in primary care.
In addition, Julian experiences arthritis and has a diagnosis of prosopagnosia (face blindness) which means that he often has difficulty recognising people he has previously met and putting names to them.
