Bio

Jazz is a young Punjabi man who, in 2019, experienced a head injury resulting in a six-day induced coma. Survival rates for severe traumatic brain injury are cited at around 50%-70%, with many patients experiencing significant disability and requiring ongoing neurological support. Jazz has lived experience of subarachnoid haemorrhage (a serious brain bleed) and is younger than most people to experience this condition. As such, he has gained rare insights into the condition such as returning to the workplace and learning life skills.

As someone with previous patient experience of critical care and rehabilitation, Jazz is able to provide informed feedback which he hopes will mean future patients will recover from traumatic events with as little impact to their previous lifestyles as possible.

Jazz’s patient involvement skills include reviewing patient-facing information, advocating for patient-informed research and highlighting how new technology can relieve existing issues for patients.
