We joined the recent spring community day at St Andrew’s @ Knighthead Park to share our latest research updates

On Sunday 31 May, our Public Involvement Lead, Hannah Rooney, launched our local community engagement activity at Birmingham City Football Club as part of their community day to celebrate the Trevor Francis Memorial Cup, a youth football tournament.

Working with the Birmingham Public Involvement Hub at the University of Birmingham, Hannah spent the day meeting members of the community and sharing opportunities to get involved with health technology research. The event brought together young sporting talent, families and our city community to take part in a range of inflatable games, watch the tournament and learn more about their health, with opportunities for free health checks. Refreshment stalls provided plenty of opportunities for hydration breaks as the tournament progressed!

“The spring community event was a brilliant day for the local community to get together and celebrate the tournament, as well as learn more about their health and how they can get involved with health research. There was a great atmosphere, and I had some insightful conversations with community members about our work and how the public help to make sure new technologies are accessible for our diverse population.”

We’re looking forward to future events with the Birmingham Public Involvement Hub and engaging with our local community. If you’re interested in learning more about how you can get involved in research, go to our Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement page
