Umm Ilyaas

Umm Ilyaas has a degree within Life Sciences and experience across healthcare and higher education. She is passionate about health research, particularly dermatology (skin health), women’s health and children’s health. 

She is passionate about ensuring patient and community voices help shape meaningful, accessible and relevant research. She is particularly interested in ensuring that the experiences of ethnically minoritised communities are considered within healthcare research and innovation, including differences in awareness, access, trust and engagement.

Umm Ilyaas brings a younger person’s perspective to patient and public involvement and she is excited to learn about the development and evaluation of healthcare technologies, whilst helping to ensure diverse communities are considered throughout the research process.
